Art of doing Nothing

What comes to your mind after reading this? If it’s “Oh I can do that all day long”, then that is not the nothing I am talking about.

This doing nothing does not allow you to use your mobile, no Netflix, no book, no music, not even eat anything! It’s simply spending time with your own self. Just you and nothing else.

If you try doing this, you will notice that there’s still one thing you do – Think!
You get all sorts of thoughts about things currently going on in your life, something you have been through in your past and you also start imagining your future. Basically, it can be past, present or future, anything!

It’s surprising how we tend to spend the least time with our own selves. It is like not having experienced your own company. I have recently started dedicating some time to myself. Even if it is just a few minutes. And that can be one of the most beautiful things to do. It helps you introspect, and take better and more thoughtful decisions.

Meditation is one of the great ways to do this. You’re in the moment, trying to free yourself from the clutter. You are much more aware of your thoughts, your presence and what you feel at that moment. Time also surprisingly slows down substantially. 15 minutes can feel like hours!
